  We stayed for four nights in July at the Sterling Creek Chalet, a B&B in the Applegate Valley near Jacksonville. The location is a perfect getaway in the country but minutes away from Jacksonville, Ashland and even relatively close to Grants Pass and Medford. Our rooms consisted of a queen bedroom, a queen sofa pullout in the sitting room, a private bathroom, and a mini fridge & microwave. There is also a gas BBQ on the deck. We swam in the above-ground pool, star gazed from the hot tub, played games on the lawn and enjoyed travel stories with our hosts. Maggie, the host, cooked delicious breakfasts each morning. She and her husband, Steve, gave us recommendations of places to explore such as the Sterling Creek Mine Trail (one trailhead is right across the road), McKee Bridge and good places to eat in Jacksonville. If requested in advance, Maggie can also prepare dinner. We went to a play in Ashland, walked around historic Jacksonville, did a half-day Rogue River trip outside Grants Pass and explored the Applegate Valley. This was a perfect spot for my family to come 'home' too.
